We ♥️ Field Trips

Students and teachers love field trips. Field trips give us the opportunity to experience the world with all of our senses: new sights, smells, and sounds expand our world and inspire us to think and act creatively. At our tuition-free middle and high school, we intentionally incorporate field trips into the school year that not only extend the learning we gain in the classroom, but that are also fun!

We take advantage of the incredible educational and fun places our area has to offer. Here’s a list of a few of the places in the greater Gainesville area that we regularly take students in order to further their learning and just enjoy getting out and about:

We’re also known for planning field trips that take students further afield. A few years ago we took students to New York City. For many students, it was their first opportunity to fly on a plane, visit a new state and grow outside of their local community. Vice

Assistant Principal Elizabeth Ricks says, “The goal is for students to see that there is a world out there and for them to experience it and to immerse themselves in it. It's just another way that we demonstrate that there are endless possibilities.”

In 2024, we will be taking a group of adventurous students and teachers to Peru! With the help of a stellar travel agency, we’ve planned a 17 day trip to visit the Uros Floating Islands in Lake Titicaca, hike Machu Picchu, and explore the Amazon among other historic and cultural destinations.

The best thing about our field trips is the new lens our students gain from traveling. As Principal Kristin Walker says, “we tell our students all the time that they can do anything that they want, as long as they put their minds to it. We take them to places that show them what the future can hold.” New perspectives, new dreams and new opportunities open up with travel.
